Heinrich Irenaeus Quincke (* 26 August 1842 in Frankfurt (or); "Â 19. May 1922 in Frankfurt (Main)) were a German internalist and surgeon. He was the second son of the secret Medicinal Rathes Hermann Quincke, his older brother Dr. Georg Hermann Quincke (1834-1924), was an at that time famous physicist. As its father was lent also to it the title "secret Medizinalrath". Its family pulled later into the capital Berlin.
In Heidelberg, peppering castle and Berlin he studied medicine with Rudolf Virchow (1821-1902), Swiss physiologist and Anatom Rudolph Albert von (English) (1817-1905) and Hermann Helmholtz (1821-1894). it attained a doctorate to 1863 at the University of Berlin, worked 1865 with the physiologist Ernst Wilhelm knight of bridge (1819-1892) at the University of Vienna and became 1866 for one year assistant famous citizens of Berlin of the surgeon Dr. Robert Ferdinand Wilms (1824-1880) in the deacon eating house Bethanien. Until 1871 it was Assistenzarzt with Friedrich Theodor of Frerichs (1819-1885) at the citizens of Berlin 1870 habilitierte Heinrich Quincke there in internal medicine. 1873 it followed the call to the University of Berne as a professor for internal medicine, five years later to the University of Kiel and emeritierte there 1908. Its last domicile was Frankfurt (Main), where it gave as a fee professor Vorlesungen.
Its main contribution to the internal medicine was the introduction of the Lumbalpunktion (Quincke Punktion) for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Since 1874 its main research area was the lung medicine (S. also Quincke edema).
