Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH is German electronics and precision mechanics manufacturer. It is specialized in industrielle lengthening and Winkelmessysteme for the employment in machine tools.

History

The enterprise decreases/goes back to a created by William Heidenhain 1889 in Berlin, which manufactures scales beside company and vehicle identification plates also. 1928 are developed with Heidenhain the Metallur procedure. This lead sulfide copying procedure makes for the first time the accurate copy for an original division possible on a metal surface. 1943 can be manufactured with a deviation from 15 and index plates with a deviation from 3 Winkelsekunden.

After that 2. World war is created 1948 in Traunreut the company Dr. Johannes Heidenhain. The invention of the Diadur procedure permits to produce it for price-indicating shop balances display areas in mass production. Whereupon constructing 1952 position measuring instruments for machine tools were taken in the program. 1961 follows photoelectrically scanning lengthening and goniometers. 1968 is manufactured for the first time numeric position announcements.

1976 were developed the first Heidenhain CNC control. 1987 took place the introduction of the series of an industrial yardstick with interferentiellen measurement principle, which makes measuring steps possible up to a nanometer. 1997 were created over the final RK interface a fast serial data channel for the transmission of absolute position information.

The enterprise produces linear measuring instruments, pressure foot, goniometers, rotation transducers, path controls, tool/workpiece palpation systems, position displays and counter cards.

Heidenhein has 2006 according to own data in 43 countries selling addresses and busily about 6000 humans, of it 2400 in the parent plant. 1999 was about 8.5 million lengthening or goniometers, 400000 position displays and 180000 CNC controls in the employment.
