Heavy industry is a comprehensive term for mining industry, iron and steel industry as well as heavy chemistry. In the broader sense also different basic industries are named.

The ascent of the heavy industry began with the industriellen revolution. In particular the high stealing and coal need of the railway as well as shipbuilding and, in 20 beginning.
