A heat shrink sleeve is a tube, which pulls together under heat effect (usually by supply of hot-air) strongly. Here the product brought before heating up into the hose is possibly physically isolated against its environment electrically, mechanically and also.

With the used plastics it concerns thermoplastics. In order to reach a shrinking of the material with heat supply, the plastics are stretched after the production in extrusion in the warm condition. Thus the molecules of the plastic are brought into an predominantly amorphous condition. By cooling off, the material can not into its original form back. Only by heating up the balls can arrange themselves again crystalline. The hose shrinks, the wall thickness increases thereby. With inexpensive heat shrink sleeves the arrangement takes place due to Van that Waals Kraft, with high-quality hoses plastics with dipole dipole effects is used (ex.s: One knows teflon) observing this behavior also e.g. with yogurt cups, which collapse by heating up again in itself.
