The Hayden Valley is a broad, flat valley between the Yellowstone Lake and the Grand Canyon OF the Yellowstone in the Yellowstone national park in the US Federal State Wyoming. 1874 designated lord Dunraven it after the geologist Ferdinand Vth Hayden, that in the second half 19. Century led two Forschungsreisen into the Yellowstone area. By the valley both the Yellowstone River and parallel to it the road from the Yellowstone Lake itself after Canyon Village. The Hayden Valley is popular with park visitors for its rich animal world. Often large herds of until on, occasionally also Wapitis, moose, wolves and can be observed.

The Hayden Valley lies in a Caldera, which formed with the last large volcanic eruption more than 600,000 years ago. During the last ice age the bed of the Yellowstone Lakes formed itself, with the Hayden Valley as part of it. When the water withdrew itself slowly from the valley and redimensionierte themselves the lake to its current size, it left a fine Silt and clay soil. This soil lets good food for game grow, however only causes trees.
