The Haseldorfer march is the smallest holsteinischen Elbmar and is appropriate northeast for the Elbe between the city whisk, the Pinnau and the Geestrand between Uetersen and cross-beam. Principal place of the Haseldorfer march is the municipality Haseldorf; further municipalities are Haselau and Hetlingen. On the other Elbufer the city Stade, about 20 kilometers is appropriate east of Hamburg.Die Haseldorfer march is part circle of the Pinneberg in Schleswig Holstein.In it was also the village until refuge sunk in the Elbe. At the transition to the march is the oldest swing bridge of Germany, which was built in the year 1887. Their inhabitants had to always argue with storm tides and inundations.

Events

At the night to 28 December 1248 so-called all child flax all this destroyed parts of the first dyke system. Width of parts of the area were devastated.

With that Hamburg storm tide to 16. /17. February 1962 was flooded those march partly meter high. The Hetlinger digs and the Haseldorfer Vorland stood up to 5.83 meters under water. It did not come however to the break of the Elbdeiche. But the end of the fifties to badly accomplished increases of the dykes became apparent. Thus the new Deichkrone sagged with Hetlingen simply. Due to the flood back pressure at the stream dike of the Pinnau it came to further inundations in the close Uetersen. Differently than in Hamburg there were no victims, but the damage to the buildings and the infrastructure was the same as in Hamburg William castle and Georgswerder.

On 3 January 1976 it was afflicted again by a storm tide. The dyke with Hetlingen fallow to nine places and the complete march was flooded, it developed a Milionenschaden. As by a miracle no humans died. Altogether approx. 800 families were cut off over days of the external world. There were most losses under the utilizable animals and the free-living animal world. 155 cattle, 610 pigs, 280 sheep and 700 chickens were killed. From the free-living animals about 700 deer, 3000 pheasants and approx. 1000 hares died.

In July 2002 sintflutartige rainfalls flooded the Haseldorfer march. Litres water per square meter fell in 24 hours up to 125. From the Geesthang with Hetlingen further Wassermassen were added. For fruit plan days, houses and roads stood under water. Over 300 firefighters as well as the THW and the German Red Cross were several-day-long in the use.

Agriculture and local recreation area

The Haseldorfer march is also today agriculturally used still predominantly, whereby the most important branch is the fruit-growing; in addition is the cattle breeding of importance. Due to the proximity to Hamburg many commuters in the Haseldorfer march, who work in Hamburg, live. Likewise those is march a popular local recreation goal of the population living in the surrounding countryside.
