The Haseldorfer march is the smallest holsteinischen Elbmar and is appropriate northeast for the Elbe between the city whisk, the Pinnau and the Geestrand between Uetersen and cross-beam. As by a miracle no humans died. Altogether approx. 800 families were cut off over days of the external world. There were most losses under the utilizable animals and the free-living animal world. 155 cattle, 610 pigs, 280 sheep and 700 chickens were killed. From the free-living animals about 700 deer, 3000 pheasants and approx. 1000 hares died.
In July 2002 sintflutartige rainfalls flooded the Haseldorfer march. Litres water per square meter fell in 24 hours up to 125. From the Geesthang with Hetlingen further Wassermassen were added. For fruit plan days, houses and roads stood under water. Over 300 firefighters as well as the THW and the German Red Cross were several-day-long in the use.
The Haseldorfer march is also today agriculturally used still predominantly, whereby the most important branch is the fruit-growing; in addition is the cattle breeding of importance. Due to the proximity to Hamburg many commuters in the Haseldorfer march, who work in Hamburg, live. Likewise those is march a popular local recreation goal of the population living in the surrounding countryside.
