Harold Elliot Varmus (* 18 December 1939 in Oceanside, New York, the USA) is an US-American Virologe.

it received 1989 together with J. Michael Bishop the Nobelpreis for physiology or medicine "for its discovery of the zellularen origin of the potentially carcinogenic so-called Retroviren".
