Hans Thilo Schmidt (* 13. May 1888; "† 1943) Code name or SOURCE D, was a feeler gauge, who sold years of secrets during the 1930er over the German Enigma code machines to the French secret service.

The material placed from it to the order was passed on by the Frenchmen to Poland and made it for the Polish secret service possible to copy the first generation of the Enigma machines. The Polish working group was evacuated after the German invasion in Poland first to France and made after the emigration to Great Britain an important contribution for the decoding of the Enigma-M4-Maschinen by the British.

Schmidt was arrested on 1 April 1943 of the Gestapo and died in September 1943 in the detention.
