The hand casting instrument forms the core of good mountain invention of the printing with mobile type characters; it concerns thereby an apparatus into which the stencil is clamped and filled with the alloy for the type characters (lead, tin, bismuth and antimony).

Good mountain mold represents one of the earliest automats at all, since one could manufacture measure-exact identical pieces in unlimited number with it.
