The ginger plants (Zingiberaceae) are a family of the Bedecktsamer (Magnoliophyta). The family has 46 to 52 kinds with 1075 to 1300 kind-unites kinds as spice and welfare plants by humans is used, for example ginger and Curcuma. Many kinds are popular tropical ornamental plants.

    • Curcuma: Turmeric
    • Boesenbergia: With 60 kinds.
    • Globba: With 100 kinds.
    • Hedychium: With 50 kinds.
    • Ginger (Zingiber): With 100 kinds.
  • Alpinioideae: with a Verbreitungsschwerpunk in: Indonesian archipelago and tropical Australia.
    • Aframomum: With 50 kinds, e.g. Aframomum melegueta
    • Elettaria: E.G. Elettaria cardamomum
    • Amomum: With 150 kinds.
    • Alpinia: With 200 kinds. Many kinds and sorts are popular ornamental plants in tropical gardens and parks. This kind is not monophyletisch and in next time in several kind will thus be subdivided.
    • Etlingera: With 70 kinds.
    • Hornstedia: With 50 kinds.
    • Pommereschea
    • Renealmia: With 75 kinds, in the Tropics Americas and Africa.
    • Riedelia: With 60 kinds.
  • Siphonochiloideae: With only one kind and eleven kinds, in Africa and Madagascar.
