History

General of engine was created 1908 by William C. Durant and still acquired in the same year the companies Buick and old mobile.

During the 1920er and 1930er general of engine took over the company Yellow Coach, helped the Buslinien of Greyhound to construct and replaced by penalty. GM created subsidiaries, in order to buy up other companies, which manufactured streetcars, and to replace the assigned courses by penalty. 1930 bought up GM the rail traction motor manufacturer Winton engine and changed production over from electrical to diesel engines.

In the public the faith is common that general of engine was condemned into the 1950ern because of a conspiracy. A goal of the conspiracy is to buy up to have been the net of the electrical streetcars and destroy, so that the public suburban traffic is dependent on GMC penalty. This should be also the reason for it, why streetcars are to be found only rare today in the USA. It contradicts this conspiracy theory that general of engine was only condemned for the exercised pressure on the taken over bus enterprises, so that should use this penalty of GM. Beyond that the passenger numbers of the streetcars reached their high point already into the 1920ern, thus still before the influencing control of general of engine.

During the Second World War general of engine supported opposite sides. A report of the American senate from the year 1974 included according to expanded general of engine (as well as Ford and Chrysler) during the 1920er and 30's into many European countries, Germany. The enterprises supplied both the US military and the German military with truck. The report states that general of engine and subsidiary companies built almost 90% of the OPELs lightning 3-Tonnen-LKWs, as well as more than 70% of the middle and heavy load LKWs of the third realm armored by Ford. These vehicles served, according to American intelligence services, as backbone for the transport system the German army.

The managing director at that time of general of engine, Alfred P. Sloan, defended allegedly the support for the German army with the reason that the business of GM was in Germany most profitable.

After the Second World War stressed general of engine and Ford reparation payments of the American government, since their factories in Germany had been damaged by attacks of the allied ones.

On 31 December 1955 general of engine announced an annual conversion of over a billion US Dollar as the first American enterprise.
