Gutbrod was a motorcycle, an automobile and a machine manufacturer in Plochingen at the Neckar.

History

William Gutbrod (* 26 February 1890 in Gerlingen; "† 9 August 1948) created 1925 in Ludwigsburg its standard vehicle factory GmbH and produced first motorcycles later also automobiles. The company moved over Stuttgart fire brook after Plochingen, where starting from approx. 1950 among other things several variants of the small car Superior were built. Among them 1952 one of the first series vehicles of the world with gasoline direct injection, the "700E".

1953 led the inability to pay to a partial sales of the enterprise. Up to the assumption by decaying Tool and the company (MTD) in the year 1996 manufactured Gutbrod predominantly engine-operated and small tractors.

Direkteinspritzung

The first employment of a petrol direct injection with a passenger car took place 1951 with the models Gutbrod Superior and Goliath GP 700. Both vehicles used one since 1949 under the direction of Hans's shears mountain developed two-stroke engine of 600 cm and 26 HP, which were equipped by Bosch with a modified Diesel fuel injection system. The vehicles showed very good road performances and a favorable gasoline consumption, 30% less than the carburetor variant. Shears mountain changed then to Mercedes Benz.Diese technology at the time at that time from Goliath and modified (there Viertakter) in Mercedes the 300SL was only used.
