The medieval guilds often symbolized themselves by coats of arms and guild characters.
Frequent indications were tools of the respective occupation, in addition, protection symbols were used. Like the composition of the guilds (in those partially different occupations were combined) also the indications varied depending upon region.
Guilds and their indications
- Baker: Two upright standing lions hold together a Brezel and in each case a sword. The swords are through crossed by the Brezel. Over the Brezel a crown is, under it 4 rolls
- Bierbrauer and Brauerstern

- Fischer: Two crossed fish
- Bricklayer: Seals with centric easily issued circle surround by hammer and shovel in an indication triangle
- Butcher, butcher, Fleischhauer: Bull head with one or two a hatchet (EN) over it
- Gerber: Supports, bush
- Fitter: Key, horseshoe and Nagelzange
- Schmiede: Hammer, anvil
- Cutter: (Open) shears, by whose a material volume pulled loosely. Among them a thimble.
- Carpenter: Plane, angle and circle
- (occupation): Schrotleiter, Fasshaken and wine barrel with so-called support
- Weber: A material cushion, on which a weber awl lies
- Carpenter: Seal with axes, saw and circle
