Gordon E. moorlands (* 3 January 1929 in San Francisco, California, the USA) is joint founder of the company Intel and Urheber moorland ashes of the law.

Moorlands in San Francisco, California was born. It received a B.S. in chemistry at the university to 1950 from California in Berkeley and 1954 a Ph.D in chemistry and physics at the California institutes OF Technology.

It created the today world-wide largest semiconductor manufacturer Intel in July 1968 together with Andy Grove and Robert Noyce. But three engineers had left the company Fairchild Semiconductor before. Moorlands was first Executive Vice President until it 1975 president and Chief Executive Officer became. In April 1979 moorlands became Chairman of the executive committee and Chief Executive Officer. It kept this position by April 1987, however Chairman of the executive committee since that time remained and is Chairman Emeritus until 1997.

The library at the center for mathematical sciences at the University OF Cambridge is designated after it and his Mrs. Betty.

In the magazine Electronics appeared on 19 April 1965 an article of moorland, in which he determined the today Moore law connection mentioned for the preceding years. It described a connection between the time and the number of electronic construction units of an integrated circuit (a respective duplication in one year) on the basis the available data of these years and asked the question, which would be, if it continued the next ten years in such a way. The law was slightly corrected later (today: "Duplication of the processor achievement every 24 months"), however essentially applies until today.

In the same article anticipated moorlands also different developments of the chip industry, which were dismissed of the professional world at that time as Science Fiction. For example it considered moorlands that the increasing transistor density leads medium-term to problems during heat development. Nowadays chip manufacturer employs such as Intel among other things exactly this problem, which was the crucial trip for the development of the crest factor VTX.
