The name Gleaner is closely connected with that one brothers the Curtis, Edwin and Ernest Baldwin. Grown up on a farm in the west of Kansas toward end 19. Century, the three brothers began already soon to build agricultural devices. Curt Baldwin busy itself intensively with the building of stationary threshing machines. Later it recognized that one did not have to bring the field to Dre, but that Dre on the field. It began with the building of combines. Its both brothers collected meanwhile with Ford company experiences in the building of tractors. In the year the brothers Baldwin brought the first self-propelled combine to 1923 on the market. They created soon thereafter, in April 1924, the Gleaner Manufacturing company. From now on the name Gleaner was a constant value in history that grain harvest today belongs to Gleaner to the AGCO corporation. However further combines under the mark Gleaner are produced and driven out. Gleaner produced also combine with the conventional thresh and separating system (tangential rasp-bar cylinder and horde/hurdle shaker), famous is Gleaner however for its R-series. In the combines of the R-series the thresh and the separation process by an axial rotor are mastered. Contrary to combine the rotor is not lengthwise but crosswise inserted all other axial combine, which are today on the market, with the Gleaner.
