Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is a technology company with seat in Munich, which developed on the basis of the note and identity card pressure also to a specialist for Smart Cards and safety solutions. The tradition company was created on 1 June 1852 of Hermann Giesecke (1831-1900) and Alphons Devrient (1821-1878) in Leipzig as "typographic institute for art Giesecke & Devrient" and maintains today world-wide over 50 subsidiaries and Joint venture. Starting from 1999 G&D for the European central bank printed the new European currency ("euro ") on the basis of most modern safety standards. G&D is thereby volume-moderately the largest printer of Eurobank notes under 15 printering taken part.

2002 were responsible to G&D for development, Design and pressure of the new note series for Afghanistan. In the following years the enterprise develops above all also visa Personalisierungssysteme, among other things for Kazakhstan, Serbia and Italy. Also the production of health maps followed, approximately for Taiwan.

In the year 2004 G&D was involved in the Federal Republic in the production of the new document of identification documents with storage of biometric data on a chip. Besides the enterprise is involved into the project electronic Patientenkarte.
