Ghana Airways was of 1958 - 2004 the airline of the westAfrican State of Ghana. Their basis had it on the Kotoka internationally air haven in Accra, Ghana. 2004 was adjusted all operations and the society was liquidated.

Ghana has in the meantime a new airline, Ghana internationally airlines, a co-operation enterprise between the government of Ghana and private, US-American investor.

History

The airline was created on 4 July 1958 and took up on 15 July 1958 the enterprise. She should take over the domestic and the international service of west African Airways. The domestic service was stopped September 1991.

Into the first 2000er years chartered Ghana Airways an airbus A330 of the Canadian society SkyService airlines and a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 of the US-American World Airways for the enterprise in North America. At the end of of 2003 failed a DC-10, since the society could not follow the maintenance obligations any longer. In the result Ghana Airways a large part of its up to the acquisition of a DC-10 Hawaiian Airlines had canceln.

Since 28 July 2004 Ghana Airways was excluded from flights into the USA, since the society could not fulfill the safety conditions. On 13 August 2004 the ticket sales was stopped.

Ghana Airways stopped in the meantime all activities and by Ghana internationally airlines was replaced, a Public private Partnership enterprise.

Services

Ghana Airways flew to North America, Europe, Africa, and to the middle east.

Former fleet

An airbus A330-300 was sold in May 2002, and an airbus A320-200 in March 2004. Originally Douglas DC-10 on international distances and Douglas DC-9 on domestic or regional distances were used.
