Germania is one the prominent German archaeological Fachzeitschiften, which is published by the Roman-Germanic commission of the German archaeological institute. It appears since 1917, at present twice annually, and contains essays and small reports for the archaeology of old Europe as well as reviews in German, English and French. The first volume appeared under the title correspondence sheet to the Roman-Germanic commission of the archaeological institute.

Between 1917 with volume 1 and 1943 with half volume 2 of volume 27 appeared the magazine in regular consequence. Half volume 27/3 4 appeared only 1949, that for 1944 planned volume 28 only 1950. Since 1951 the magazine appears again regular starting from the number 29.

The magazine appeared in the following publishing houses:

• 1917-1920 bear, Frankfurt/Main
• 1921-1931 C.C. Buchner, Bamberg
• 1932-1975 walter de Gruyter, Berlin

Since 1976 it appears in the publishing house Philipp of Zabern in Mainz.

1992-1993 were published in two supplements of the magazine the subject catalogue of the library of the Roman-Germanic commission.
