Dr. Georg William of Siemens (the short form William of Siemens is more common) (* 30 July 1855, Berlin - "† 14 October 1919, Arosa) were a German Industrieller, a secret government advice and a son of Werner von Siemens.

Life

George William of Siemens was active since 1880 in the paternal enterprise "Siemens & Halske", starting from 1884 as a partner and was after separating the father the prominent person of the enterprise. Under its line the enterprise was converted 1897 into a corporation.

1889 got George William of Siemens of its father the Biesdorfer manor as well as the lock Biesdorf.

In addition it led the company at that time Siemens Schuckertwerke, whom in Biesdorf (at that time with Berlin, today a local part) airships in nonrigid building way built among other things. George William of Siemens participated partly also even in test runs of the Siemens Schuckert airship SSL1 and SSL2.

Detailed personal record:

1855 - William of Siemens is born on 30 July as a second son of Werner Siemens and Mathilde in Berlin.

1865 - William nut/mother dies.

1869 - After preparatory school and attendance of the High School re-education into the empress Augusta High School in Charlottenburg.

1872 - William changes for health reasons on a Lyzeum in Strasbourg in the Elsass.

1873 - Recovery and education journey to Italy.

1875/76 - Military service as a one year's in Stuttgart.

1876 - 1879 - study of mathematics and natural sciences at the university in Heidelberg, Leipzig and Berlin.

1879 - Entrance with Siemens & Halske.

1882 - William marries Elly Siemens.

1884 - William becomes partner of the company.

1885 - Birth of the son William Ferdinand.

1888 - Werner Siemens is raised in view of its earnings/services from emperor Friedrich III. into the hereditary nobility. The family carries from now to the name "from Siemens".

1888 - William of Siemens pulls with his family into the mansion in the park Biesdorf. Werner von Siemens transfers the property, the mansion (lock) and the park Biesdorf his son William in the year 1889.

1888 - Birth of the daughter Mathilde Eleonore Eveline.

1890 - Werner von Siemens hands over to Carl and the sons Arnold and William the management to the brother.

1897 - Siemens & Halske become corporation.

1898 William of Siemens, Kirchenpatron of the Evangelist church in Biesdorf, donated an organ and the electrical lighting for the change of the church.

1904 appointment as the secret government advice. Further honours for its earnings/services among other things 1905 Dr. ing.h.c the technical university Dresden and 1915 honour doctor h.c.phil the University of Berlin.

1911 first travel of the Siemens Schuckert airship (SSL1) over Biesdorf.

1919 William of Siemens die, few months after the death of its wife, during a cure stay in Arosa/Switzerland.
