The GdW is a technical and a syndicate of the housing industry settled on federal level in Germany. Its members are again federations (mostly regional organizations): As "federation of the federations" the GdW is the central association of the German housing industry.

Member federations

Those altogether 14 member federations of the GdW have approx. 3,200 housing enterprises as members. They represent together an existence of approx. 6.4 million dwellings, correspond to approximately 17% of the entire and/or 30% of the rental housing stock in Germany.

To the 14 member federations of the GdW belong:

• VdW southwest federation of the South West German housing industry registered association.
• VdW federation of the housing industry Saxonia-Anhalt registered association.
• VdWg federation of the housing cooperatives Saxonia-Anhalt registered association.
• Connected Berlin Brandenburgi housing enterprises registered association (BBU)
• Federation of the housing industry in Lower Saxony and Bremen registered association.
• Federation of the housing industry Rhine country Westphalia registered association.
• Connected Saxonian housing cooperatives registered association (VSWG)
• Connected Saxonian housing enterprises registered association (VSWU)
• VNW federation of north German housing enterprise registered association.
• VTW federation housing industry registered association.
• PTW test federation housing enterprise registered association.
• Cooperative federation Frankfurt registered association Hessen - Rhineland-Palatinate - Saarland - Thuringia

The housing enterprises cared for over the regional organizations of the GdW can be divided into the following sections:
