Federal Criminal Investigation Office UC: Office in the Austrian Federal Ministry for inside, comparably with the Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Germany. To avoid the abbreviation UC selected around mistakes with the Office of the Federal Chancellor and the German Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

The Federal Criminal Investigation Office (Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations) is a federal upper authority of the Federal Republic of Germany with head office in Wiesbaden. It has the task to coordinate the national crime prevention in Germany in close co-operation with the state criminal police agencies and to accomplish determinations in certain serious criminality fields with foreign purchase. Beyond that the Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations protects the constitutional bodies of the federation. The Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations is national central office for the co-operation of interpole. A equivalent authority gives it also in Austria.

The Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations is subordinated to the Federal Ministry of the Interior. 2004 had the Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations of nearly 5,000 coworkers. Further locations Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigations are Meckenheim and Berlin.
