Fujigen gakki or Fujigen is briefly a Japanese instrument making company.

The company is designated after the highest mountain of Japan, the Fujisan. The company was created in May 1960 of Yokouchi and its friend Yutaka Mimura in a cow stable in Matsumoto in the Japanese prefecture Nagano. The most well-known marks, which are manufactured here, are Ibanez and Fender. Likewise also guitars of the marks Greco and Yamaha for the home market in Japan are manufactured there.

History of Fujigen

In May 1960 Fujigen in a cow stable was created, violins were manufactured, but changed over soon to classical guitars. The capital stock of the enterprise amounted to 1.000.000 Yen. Already in the following year a new factory was built, the production of classical guitars in the upper price segment was begun.

Starting from October 1962 also E-guitars were manufactured, ten years after the marks Ibanez and Greco.
