Advice Friedrich August Johannes Loeffler (* 24. June 1852 in Frankfurt (or); "Â 9 April 1915 in Berlin) was a German physician, public health specialist and a bacteriologist, former pupil of Robert cook in Berlin.
Loeffler studied medicine from 1870 to 1874 in peppering castle and Berlin. In peppering castle it became member of the Corps Moenania, in Berlin of the Corps Suevo Borussia. He became afterwards at imperial public health authorities coworker of Robert cook, discovered the exciters of different infections, for example Rotz, Diphtherie and red run.
1888 he became a professor of the hygiene and history of the medicine at the University of grab forest. There it became 1902 member of the Corps Guestfalia grab forest.
It described the exciter of the muzzle and claw epidemic together with Paul Frosch as an individual agent, smaller than a bacterium. Thus it became the joint founder of the Virologie. The virus of the muzzle and claw epidemic was the virus described first in the animal world (about 10 years before had Iwanowski and Beijerinck the tobacco mosaic virus with plants discovered). It succeeded to it to manufacture the first protection serum against the muzzle and claw epidemic which were not used however from cost reasons.
On the island Riems it created 1910 first virologische Forschungsinstitut, left it however, when it became to appoint 1913 as the director/conductor Robert of the institute for cook. Institut on Riems was renamed 1952 in Friedrich Loeffler institute.
