Franz Heske (* 3. July 1892 in mountain, today Tschechien; "† 7. March 1963 in Hamburg) belongs to the most well-known forest scientists 20. Century. The GermanAustrian university teacher is considered as a founder "of world forestry ". Professor Dr. - engineer Heske is also creator of the philosophy of the Organik.

Life and working

Grown up in the Franz Heske forest science at the university for soil culture Vienna studied. 1928 it was appointed as the professor for forest science and director of the institute for forest mechanism in Tharandt (Saxonia). 1931 it created there Institut for foreign and colonial forestry, who was explained 1937 as the institute for realm and 1940 were shifted on instruction by realm forest master Hermann after Reinbek with Hamburg (Reinbeker lock). Heske remained up to its retirement 1956 directors/conductors of the mechanism and/or their subsequent institution, the federal research institute for forest and timber economy (BFH). Because of its during the time of the national socialism represented ideas for a colonial forestry it was however not undisputed.

Heske is an author of 130 publications and was publisher of the magazine for world forestry, created by it 1932. Its work, with which it gave crucial development impulses to world forestry, brought guidelines for the wood use, the silviculture and particularly also for forest preservation in the Tropics.

After it was active already before longer time in the USA, India and Turkey, Heske from 1957 to 1961 functioned as a general forest master in Ethiopia. There it brought a forest law on the way, developed a forest administration and furnished a forest school. On this activity it reported in the book realizations and experiences for the forstlichen soil use of the developing countries by the example of Ethiopia, which appeared postum 1966.

Franz Heske is besides the creator of the nature-philosophical thinking direction of the Organik, their bases he in the book possession and obligation. A contribution of the wood culture for the socialeconomic problem of our time (1950) developed. it wrote 1954 together with Pascual Jordan and Adolf Meyer Abich the work Organik. Contributions for the culture of our time. Thus Heske became one of the substantial theoretical forerunners of the thoughts of a general lasting development and way of life as well as the lastingness science generally arising only into the 1990er-Jahren. Heskes ideas was developed further later by his pupil Rolf Hennig. On initiative of Hennig 1990 also the non-profit "society for Organik were created registered association ", which sat down the care of the thoughts Heskes and the further development of its philosophy to the goal.

Franz Heske died unexpectedly to 7. March 1963 in Hamburg at heart failure.
