With a franking machine, often also free stamp machine mentioned, pieces of post office are provided automated with a revenue stamp or a value print and freed in such a way for the dispatch with necessary postage.

Function

The franking machine consists i.d.R. of a keyboard to the input of postage, three verplombten speedometers and a stamp work. The first counter is the default counter in such a way specified. It is loaded by telephone or value map with postage assets and indicates still the available the amount. The second counter is the totals counter. It indicates the entire sum of the postage of the pieces of post office franked with this machine. The third counter counts the number of expressions on and serves the statistics.

In former times the printing element consisted of a rotary stamp. These had the color red up to the euro-introduction in the year 1999, today are these blue.
