Francis Peyton Rous (* 5 October 1879 in Baltimore, the USA; "† 16 February 1970 in New York, the USA) was an US-American pathologist.

Rous could filter 1911 from a muscle tumor with the very high grade of filtration of 120 nanometers an excerpt, with which he could produce again cancer. He assumed the later Rous in this excerpt a virus, Sarkom virus (RSV).

it received the Nobelpreis for physiology or medicine to 1966 "for its discoveries in the area of the tumor-producing viruses".
