Framus is a German manufacturer of guitars, basses and amplifiers, that was created 1946 in attaining.

History

The firm founder Fred Wilfer was born 1917 in beautiful brook. Beautiful brook, a small city, which was famous for their pulling and caper instrument manufacturers, is in the Egerland because of the foot of the ore mountains.

Wilfer heard in time of the driving out plans of the allied ones after the war and thought early about alternatives. It took up contact with the Bavarian federal state government and negotiated an agreement, after the instrument farmer should settle in attaining.

Wilfer created the "Frankish music instrument production Fred A. Wilfer K.G." on 1 January 1946, in order to have a central approach place for the And in the autumn 1946 it established the first workshop in carrot village, a few kilometer north of attaining. At the end of of 1948 had to move production already from lack of space and again in the year 1949. The new factory in Bubenreuth, which was inaugurated 1954 and from now on as "Framus works" firmierte, was one the most modern this time. On over 2200qm 170 instrument farmer produced surface around the 200 instruments per month. The initial dominance of playing the violin production was replaced fast by guitar production. From 1967 to 1975 a branch work existed in Pretzfeld, which was with 300 persons employed the largest guitar factory of Europe.

Framus announced end of the 1970er the bankruptcy. The reasons are not clearly delivered, because complete firm archives were lost at that time. One knows only from in-plant and financial difficulties, which had to do to strengthened competition pressure from Japan probably also with that. Child promotion

Already with the building of the work in Bubenreuth was a musical early education with taken into account. Thus Getrude Fischer of 1954 taught the most diverse instruments at children starting from three years.

Wilfer was the opinion, it is enough not out instruments to produce. One must have also the customers, who want to buy these products. Therefore Framus engaged itself in the most diverse projects up to the attitude of production 1981.

Framus today

Framus was revived 1995 and belonged today to the Warwick GmbH & CO Music equipment kg in Mark new churches.

Today's production consists of several guitar series, a bass series and amplifier production. Additionally Framus guitar strings E-guitars, classical and acoustic guitars and basses produces.

The woods for the instruments (latch plate maple, sycamore, Mahagoni) are imported directly from the USA, Europe and Africa by Framus. The wood is stored some months before the entrance into production into special climatic chambers, around it "calms down".

Like nearly all guitar manufacturers also Framus has a Customshop, as the customers their desire instruments themselves can arrange themselves.

Featured Artists

Framus co-operated in the course of the time with many musicians, and/or by many famous musicians was played. To the most famous artists belonged John Lennon, which possessed and played a Framus Hootenanny of 1965. Also that at that time very well-known Attila Zoller, a jazz guitarist, co-operated with Framus. For Peter Kraus, who became "German Elvis Presley", a 4-saitige "Peter Kraus hit guitar" developed, which was to be played very easily. Also Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones co-operated with Framus from 1964 on and played for 3 years the Framus star Bass.Einer of the most well-known artists might however Phil Campbell, which only remaining guitarist of its, which its own calls the model Panthera.
