Ford sample is a Ford engine company. It was produced from 1989 to 1997 in Flat skirt, (Michigan), and revised 1993 completely.

It was planned, in order to close the gap between Ford the Mustang and the remaining model pallet. On a long-term basis it should replace the Mustang.

The sample is based a joint venture work with Mazda and on the Mazda GD platform (1989-1992) and/or the Mazda GE platform (1993-1997). It corresponds technically to a large extent to the Mazda MX-6, which cut off however in comparison tests particularly with the chassis qualities frequently more badly than the sample.

Model 1 (1989-1992)

To Germany the sample 1 officially one did not introduce. All models offered in Germany with the dealer are singleacceptance of Ford only the model GT with the turbocharger were imported.

Model 2 (1993-1997)

Also first for the European market one did not build for the sample 2. All 1993 in Germany with the dealer of offered models by Ford Cologne specially for the German traffic were reequipped. Only 1994 were introduced a European version (model ECP). Starting from 1998 Ford Cougar were offered as a quasi-successor sample.

Differences KLZE - KLDE

  • Flatter sucking in bridge (angular instead of round discharge openings)
  • thus resulting other channels at the cylinder head
  • other cam shafts
  • higher compression by other pistons/cylinder head form
  • No EGR system
