Ford Granada (designated after the Andalusian city Granada) a classical automobile of the Ford works AG is in Cologne and was settled in the so-called "upper segment" (upper middle class and upper class) (there was also an American Ford model, which carried the name Granada, with which European model however nothing together had. This article refers only to the European Granada). The Granada was the successor for Ford the 20M and Ford 26M (series P7).

The somewhat more simply equipped sister model of the Granada is Ford Consul, which served particularly the upper middle class, while Ford Granada aimed at the upper class. Ford Consul and Ford Granada could be differentiated outwardly at the beginning of still among other things at different radiator grilles, however different equipments and other motorizing exhibited, in order to address different target groups. While Ford Consul were sold to V6-Motoren as a successor Ford of the 17M particularly with four-cylinder engines (a V6-Motor was offered in the Consul GT as point motorizing), pointed Ford Granada in series and substantially better equipment up.

The development of this sedan for the European market began 1968. In March 1972 Ford Granada were presented after investments by 500 million Marks on that Geneva autosalon of the public and found the way into the sales rooms of the Ford dealers. Ford Granada is the first model, with which the English and German development departments of the Ford works cooperated.

Starting from model year 1975 Consul and Granada were folded up to Ford the Granada "´75, which served the complete upper segment from now on with a broad spectrum at engines and equipments. 1977 burned the central European spare parts depot down of Ford to a large extent, which makes today the spare part search more difficult much.

In model year 1978 outwardly strongly revised Ford Granada "´78 with modern organization, but nevertheless classical alignment appeared. To model year 1982 a further important model care took place to Ford the Granada "´82, predominantly in the range of the technology.

Ford Granada became famous by the legendary, already 1964 in the predecessor models introduced and constantly developed further V6-Motoren from Cologne production. These were ordered preferentially by buyers Ford of the Granada. Already since the introduction of the V6-Motoren and up to the end Ford of the Granada Ford could achieve and defend the market leader shank for six cylinder motor vehicles in Europe. 1977 did not lie the Ford market share in Europe with so far again reached 17.2%.

The car was produced until 1985. Successor is the Scorpio. There was the Granada also as "tournament" (combination) and as whereby latter variant was led first with an elegant as "nearly baking sedan" in the selling program, before the 1974 was straightened and the variant was called from now on During a longer period there was Ford the Granada also than sedan.

Ford also still used the name "Granada" in England due to the there high image value of the type name until 1994 for the successor series (in Germany Scorpio "´85 and Scorpio "´92).
