Ford Cortina in the years 1962 to 1982 of the English Ford works in Dagenham as two and four-door sedan of the middle class was produced. Predecessor was the Consul Classic. The individual series Ford of the Cortina:

Mk I

The first Cortina was offered from 1962 to 1966. It was available as two and four-door sedan as well as combination. A particularly sporty version represented the Lotus Cortina. In addition the Cortina possessed purely outwardly a certain similarity to the Taunus 12M.

Mk II

The second generation was sold from 1966 to 1970. Outwardly this had grown opposite the Urmodell and possessed a quite body. This model was manufactured also by Hyundai in South Korea. Also this model pointed some similarities to the Taunus 12M (particularly within the front range).

Mk III

In the year 1970 the last version of the Cortina was presented, which was sold until 1982. In the meantime it divided a common platform with the Taunus, however one wanted to show some more during the body organization self-confident its "Coca Cola Flaschenform"). With the Facelift of 1976 there were no more differences between Taunus and Cortina. A last Facelift took place 1979. Successor became 1982 Ford Sierra.
