1967 were introduced Ford 17M and 20M (model row P7).

Ford 17M and 20M no "Taunus" was more, since with the appearance also in this Fahrzeugklasse the designation "Taunus" escaped the model row P7 and the exclusive Markenmame "Ford" was constantly used. (Sources point out that it was not permitted the German Ford works AG up to the establishment "Ford OF Europe" in the year 1967 to use "Ford" as trademark at the cars. Therefore all vehicles were called up to then as a substitute "Taunus" as trademark and exhibited also no Ford Logos at the vehicle. In the free literature references are to be found that the name change was also result of a public opinion poll, whose result read that a car was never designated always only with two, however with three type designations.)

Ford 17M/20M (P7) was successor of the Taunus 17M/20M (model row P5) and a vehicle of the "upper middle class". Its American inspired form met however the public taste not, therefore verse-oh-light one the form and turned back for the "line of the reason", a Slogan of the predecessor models. This adapted model is called after work documents model row "P7 Facelift" (or of "Ford friends" also "P7b"). There was sedans, combination version "tournament", and a so-called Hardtop Coupe. In addition the body company German in Cologne brown field manufactured a Cabrio version.

Starting from November 1969 available Ford 26M with the new 2,6-Liter-V6 and 125PS and equipment was purposefully positioned in the upper class as Top model. The car was among other things equipped with the automatic transmission, the new power steering, the increased disc brakes and the continuous double exhaust system with two chromium-plated final pipes of the 20M R-S 2300SHC, with a new cardan shaft with synchronisation sliding joint and with Michelin steel belted tires in series. To recognize from the outside it was at the characteristic halogen double headlights, the standard Vinyldach, the wheel full screens with 5-Sterne-Ornament and at the standard deeply green sounded thermic protection glazing.

1972 were replaced Ford 20M and 26M by Ford the Granada, Ford 17M by Ford the Consul.
