The first regulation to the equipment and product safety law (regulation over the Inverkehrbringen of electrical operational funds for use within certain voltage limits, 1. GPSGV) contains the regulations valid for Germany to the condition of electrical devices.

With this regulation the European low-voltage guideline is converted into German right.

The regulation applies to "operational funds for use during a rated voltage between 50 and 1.000 V to alternating current and between 75 and 1.500 V to direct current, as far as it concerns technical media or use-finished utensils or parts of these. "

It does not apply to

  1. electrical operational funds for use in explosibler atmosphere,
  2. electricalradiological and electricalmedical operational funds,
  3. electrical parts of person and freight elevators,
  4. Watthour meter,
  5. Household socket outlet and plugs,
  6. Devices for the current supply of electrical pasture fences,
  7. special electrical operational funds, which are intended for the use on ships, in airplanes or in railways and correspond the safety regulations of international mechanisms, to which the member states of the European community belong. Furthermore it applies not to the noise suppression of electrical operational funds.

After "§ 2 exp. 1 new electrical operational funds may be brought to this guideline only into traffic, if

  • they according to the conditions of the safety engineering given in the European community are manufactured,
  • it with normal installation and maintenance as well as intended use security of humans, utilizable animals and the preservation of real values do not endanger.
