The Italian company Finmeccanica develops and builds airplanes, helicopters, satellites, rockets and space travel components, devices for communication and information technology, as well as armoured vehicles, torpedoes, ship cannons, high-speed courses, undergrounds and Trambahnen. It employs approx. 60,000 coworkers, of it approx. 42,000 in Italy, 12,000 in England and 6,000 in France. To the company the prominent Italian aircraft manufacturers Alenia and Aermacchi, the Italian helicopter manufacturer Agusta Westland, the arms enterprise Oto Melara, as well as the traffic engineering enterprise Ansaldo belong.

Together with Alcatel Finmeccanica (over Alenia) is involved in two in July 2005 created space undertakings:

• Alcatel Alenia space (participation: 33% Finmeccanica, remainder of Alcatel), union of Alcatel space and Alenia Spazio. Tasks: Satellite Satellites. Conversion: approx. 1.8 billion euro, approx. 7200 coworkers in France (company headquarters in Cannes), Italy, Belgium and Spain.
• Telespazio getting thing (participation: 67% Finmeccanica, remainder of Alcatel), union of Telespazio and Alcatel space services. Tasks: Service achievements for the satellite market. Conversion: approx. 350 millions Eur, approx. 1400 coworkers in Italy (company headquarters in Rome), France and Germany.
