Filmstudios Barrandov are one the largest and oldest Filmstudios in Europe. In eleven studios and on a surface of 9248 m were turned during seventy-year old history over 2.500 Czech and foreign films. Those of Studios were created in the thirties of the brothers Milo"š Havel (1899-1968) and Havel (1897-1979). The Studio is designated after the Prager quarter Barrandov.

The owner of the Studios Moravia Steel, a.s. employs 2,000 humans in Barrandov. Havel (former president of the Czech republic) lays claims on the Filmstudios for years.

Beside productions of Czech film artists in Studios also productions from the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany or Russia are realized. Besides turned in the last years strengthens cinema and television advertising spots.

Foreign productions announced the Studio also in the world and contributed to the further image improvement. The producers estimate above all the complete infrastructure, low production costs, those architecturally rich city Prague and the close nature beautifulnesses In addition, the highly developed film industry, which employs 20,000 humans in Tschechien, contributes to the successful conversion of ideas on the canvas.

Beginning of the eighties turned director Milo"š Forman the OSCAR-crowned film Amadeus, for which also Czech artists were nominated: for buildings of scenes Karel for costumes Theodor Pi"štek as well as the cameraman Miroslav After Amadeus the Firm Yentl with Barbra Streisand was turned here. Further is the film of the director admits Brian de Palma mission: Impossible with the actors Tom Cruise and Jon Voight. Likewise here the Czech film "Kolya" was realized, that with a OSCAR, which golden Globe and numerous European prices were distinguished.
