Ferdinand Laeisz (* 2 January 1801 in Hamburg; "† 7 February 1887 ebenda) was a German buyer and shipowner.

Laeisz was the son of the buyer Johann hard TIG Laeisz and its wife Catharina Maria Greve. After a rather short school time Laeisz in its hometown completed teachings as a Buchbinder. Subsequently, it went as more moving associated on rolls and learned during this time into Berlin the production of silk hats.

1824 returned Laeisz to Hamburg and created a small trading venture; later from it the shipping company F should come out. Laeisz. Over these branches with the time ever more colonial goods, like cotton, cocoa, coffee, india rubber, tobacco and sugar, to Hamburg were imported and Laeisz could 1832 its Hamburg already close.

1840 let be Laeisz on own calculation first ship build and 1847 were already it considerably in the establishment the Hamburg-American Packetfahrt Actiengesellschaft (HAPAG) involved. Together with two colleagues it was over ten years there in the management active. But only as its son Carl Laeisz as partners into the company came, created the shipping company the jump to one of the most important companies that Hamburg economy.

Laeisz belonged to citizenry Hamburg to its end of life to that on and starting from 1871 it also several marks to the chairman by seniority was selected. Its social commitment was however ever more important to it than any political offices. On its initiative people kitchens were established and furnished people baths. Its Laeisz pin was opened 1860 and was up to its destruction in the Second World War in enterprise. 1861 it created a sailor cash and still financed in the same year that Hamburg rescue association. The latter came up 1865 in the German society for the rescue of shipwrecked ones (DGzRS).

At the age of 86 years Ferdinand Laeisz died on 7 February 1887 in Hamburg.
