The NLG is a technical and a syndicate of the housing and real estate economy in Germany. About 1800 enterprises belong to it as members.

The principal purpose of the NLG is the creation of favorable investment conditions for the real estate economy. For the reaching of this goal represents the NLG the interests of his members on different levels of political decision making: in the land, federation and European politics.

In this surrounding field notices the NLG the following tasks:

• Operational readiness level with expert hearings at Ministries and parliamentary committees
• Development from statements to law projects
• Lobbying as a member of specialized technical and commissions

Opposite its members offer the NLG different services, among other things legal advice, PR-consultation, training courses as well as publication to the appearing six times annual technical periodical "the free housing industry FWW".

The members of the NLG belong to the following groups:

• Builder, building contractor, Baubetreuer
• Manager of own and strange real estate existence
• City and project developer
• Closed real estate funds
