Fazer is a Finnish, in completely Scandinavia, in addition, in the Baltic countries, Poland, Russia as well as Great Britain well-known mark for board chocolate, Schokoriegel, chocolates and other food.

In Germany it is rather less well-known, by the company Brandt is driven out and is available in specialist shops specialized in noble chocolate or well sorted supermarkets. Above all the classical chocolate Fazerin Sininen (Fazer"´s Blue, German "Fazers blue one"), manufactured since 1922, in the characteristic blue packing is popular and belonged according to estimate of many Finns to today to the Finnish identity as for instance the Salmiakpastillen salmiakki, likewise since 1939 of Fazer produced in Finland since generations.

Was created the mark end 19. Century in Helsinki of the baker, Konditor and Chocolatier Karl Fazer originating from Switzerland. This had opened 1891 in the city center of Helsinki a Russian French and had begun four years later with the production and marketing of own products of chocolate and further sweets. The enterprise expanded to end of the 1930er years particularly after the national independence of Finland from Russia 1917 continuously, an Finnish-English cookie factory, baker's shops, restaurants as well as first sales offices in Sweden was added.

During the Second World War Fazer Makkaroni and cookies for the Finnish army produced. Starting from years the enterprise several bread factories, later also a mill operated the 1950er. Into the 1970er years entered it on a large scale into the Catering business blossoming in Finland among other things for schools, companies and authorities and operated and took over several cafeterias. The baking goods business, in particular in the market segment rye bread, was expanded. The traditional chocolate business became increasingly an edge feature within the Fazer group.

Starting from the 1990er years were added addresses, unions and the assumption of other companies, among other things into Poland, Russia and Great Britain, in addition a chain.

Today the Fazer group, as Oy Karl Fazer starting from to today an exempt private company, operates in three divisions: in the Catering (Fazer Amica, by the majority in Finland and Sweden), in the baker's shop business (Fazer Bakeries, by the majority in Finland and Russia) and in the business with sweets and wine rubber (Candy King, by the majority in Sweden and Norway). Fazer busy 2005 of approximately 14,700 coworkers in nine countries and converted 975 millions euro in the same year.

The chocolate department fused 2000 with the Swedish manufacturer for chocolate and sweet goods Cloetta to Cloetta Fazer OFF. Label name and Logo Fazer for the traditional chocolate products and salmiakki remained however.
