The Falter is a city magazine in Vienna. The Falter was created 1978 and appears weekly (on Wednesdays). Editor-in-chief is Armin Thurnher, its deputy is the culture journalist and Ingeborg Bachmann competition Juror Klaus Falter writes among other things also Hermes Phettberg and Andrea Maria Dusl. For spring 2005 also a regional expenditure of the Falters for the Steiermark appears.

The Falter reports Viennese from left liberals perspective on politics, media, culture and the city life. Original core part is detailed Vienna - an appointment calendar for theatres, cinema, party and meetings of each kind. The weekly paper with uncovering journalism investigated solidly rendered special services.

Until a few years ago the Falter was the only medium in Austria, which brought up for discussion continuously media guidelines. The Ceterum is famous censeo under the editorials of the Chefredakeurs: "In all other respects I am the opinion, the Mediamil company must be smashed." The answer of the competition took place on the non-journalistic field: 1995 covered the crowns up newspaper the Falter because of a profit play with complaints in million height, which would have meant almost the financial end of the city newspaper.
