Berlin is at present (2006) indebted with scarcely 60 billion euro. 2.4 billion euro interest result annually, which is financed not from incomes, but by new debts. The senate wants for the first time to submit 2007 a balanced primary household, in which the expenditures are covered by the current incomes. The interest payments are however still added - and become year by year higher. Without assistance of the federation Berlin from this vicious circle can not free itself, argues the present financial senator Thilo Sarrazin (SPD). It regards as it a debt assumption at a value of 30 billion euro for compellingly necessary.
