Eugen boat operator (* 14 February 1860 in Breslau; "† 5 September 1954 in Berlin) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life and occupation

Boat operator, who converted Jewish family from one to the protest anti-mash came, studied jurisprudence from 1877 to 1880 in Breslau, Leipzig and where it put down also the junior lawyer exam. After junior lawyer time and graduation the large legal state examination followed. From 1888 to 1899 it was actively, following as office judges in Zabrze/Upper Silesia until 1906 as a regional court advice in Magdeburg. 1906 it was carried to the Court of Appeal in Berlin, where it became 1910 higher administrative court advice.

In addition, after his separating from the policy 1924 boat operator was active as an attorney, published writings over the condition of the German justice. Thus it omitted in its 1928 writing appeared "the German law" over the Hypertrophie of the right in Germany, the mass of regulations, which was hardly surveyable even for specialists, leads itself in connection with the unworldlyness of the judges and the right strangeness of the people to a confidence crisis of right and law. Resigning it almost places firmly "an internal relationship between people soul, legal order, justice and Richtertum is (...) not given to (...) the volume between people and right is no longer loosened, but torn only." (S. page 61). Besides it was co-editor of the German lawyer newspaper.

After the Second World War it lived first in the Soviet zone of occupation. From 1945 to 1948 he was a president (east) of the German central administration for law. 1950 it moved into the west. It was married and had two children. Its son-in-law Waldemar cook was 1946 the first chairman of the LDP in the Soviet zone of occupation.

A party

In the empire boat operator was member of the national liberals a party. Contrary to the large majority of the party members, whom the DVP created, boat operator took part in the strip packing, from which he withdrew in October 1924, without to today the motives for this step and its complete retreat exerted by it from the policy admits would be.

Together with William it published at the beginning of of July 1945 a call for the establishment of a liberal-democratic party of Germany. After its removal into the west of Germany it belonged to the FDP.

Delegate

From 1903 to 1918 boat operator was member of the Prussian Lower House for the constituency Magdeburg. Reichstag of the empire it belonged from 1912 to 1917, where it represented the constituency Wolmirstedt Neuhaldensleben. There he predominantly dedicated himself to the standardization of the justice in the German Reich, which was determined despite the realm law laws still very much by the member states.

There boat operator belonged to that Weimar national assembly and was since 9 July 1919 as a successor of Friedrich of Payer strip packing party head. Subsequently, it belonged Reichstag until 1924. it sketched a request for a "first law to 1923 for the strip packing parliamentary group for the simplification of the judiciary", which was adopted in amended version in February 1924. A goal was to be shortened above all the duration of the civil process and be worked the process kidnapping against. For this purpose among other things a quality procedure was introduced.

From 1921 to 1925 he was also state parliament delegate in Prussia. He did not notice the mandate since a his party and parliamentary group withdrawal on 22 October 1924.

After the Second World War boat operator belonged to 1949/50 of the provisional people chamber of the GDR.

Public offices

During the rule of the advice of the people-assigned under Friedrich Ebert boat operator, like already into the last imperial government of George Michaelis and the prince Max von Baden, was leading undersecretary of state of the office for realm treasure.

Under Prime Minister Philipp sheath man he was by 19 April 1919 a deputy head of the government and led the realm Ministry of finances, among sheath man successor Gustav farmer dressed boat operators from 3 October 1919 up to 26. March 1920 the office of the Minister of Justice and was again a vice-chancellor. It is considered as one of the substantial figures with striking down the cut Putsches. Finally it was in the first cabinet of Joseph Wirth of 10. May by 22 October 1921 a second time Minister of Justice.
