Ettore Isidoro Arco Bugatti (* 15 September 1881 in Milan; "† 21 August 1947 in Paris) was an automobile manufacturer and a technical designer.

Into old May countries an artist family in-born, he should likewise become after the will of his father Carlo Bugatti artists, designers and furniture carpenters. Against whose it decided will itself however early for an engineer career. Already with 17 it designs its first motorized tricycle.

After some unsuccessful years as an employee at the company Deutz in Cologne it created 1908 in mol home in the Elsass together with its partner Ernest Friederich its own car factory "Bugatti". Had an accident on 11 August 1939 his son and designate successor Jean Bugatti (*1909) with a car accident deadly.

Its automobiles impressed not only by their simple and pragmatic technical construction, but particularly by the aesthetic requirement, to which Bugatti responded with its drafts.

1987 acquire the entrepreneur Romano Artioli the legendary name Bugatti, create a modern factory and unite 1993 Bugatti with the company Lotus von General of engine. Since 1998 has Volkswagen AG the rights to build cars under the brand name Bugatti.
