Gustav Ernst von Waldthausen (* 20. May 1811 in meals; "† 22 January 1883 in meals) was a buyer, a Chamber of Commerce president, a city delegate, a Kommerzienrat and a member of the familyfamily family Waldthausen.

It put on its capital compiled in the Wollhandel into the development of the mining industry and supported the steel industry and as the men of the founder period as Stinnes, Haniel and Krupp. Ernst von Waldthausen ranked after 1845 among the richest Essener entrepreneurs.

He was selected as a successor of Theodor 1848 to the president of the Essener trade chamber. It is remarkable that it kept this position up to its death in the year 1883.

In the context of its mountain-structural activities it created 1856 the Arenberg AG for mining industry and hut enterprise. Participation in the bills Emma and bright stone follows. Also it recognizes the fact that the routes of transportation play a substantial role and uses itself personally particularly strongly for the development of rail and water route. In acknowledgment of his earnings/services Ernst von Waldthausen 1861 received the honor to the Kommerzienrat. From 1877 to its death he was a city delegate.
