The Erfurter balance is a kurmainzischer balance and luggage yard in the earlier Erfurter State of, the today's state capital Erfurt standing under kurmainzischer governorship.

The building, which is used nowadays as meadow museum, is in the Erfurter old part of town, at the crossing of meadow and Bahnhofstrasse.Es is a building of baroque standing under Frankish influence, which is richly verziert with plastic decorative fixtures. The protection patron of the city, pc. Martin, is awake in the Giebeldreieck over the well-being and blows its protection-ordered.

History

18. Century

The cure-Main-hissed governors Philipp William of Boineburg wanted to again animate the trade and the economy in Erfurt, after over 60 % the Erfurter at the plague furious into the 1680er years under the population had died.

In the year 1704 for this a Kommerziendeputation is created. She assigns concessions and privileges to those Manufakturen, which create a new trade.

In the time of 1705 to 1711 on the meadow the cure-Main-hissed balance and luggage yard are built. With start-up the past balance and the depots in the balance lane are given up. Starting from 1712 are all goods, which come to Erfurt to page out and declare here.

Boineburg succeeded it with this institution, the commercial activity in Erfurt at the beginning 18. To let blossom century again.

19. Century

The Erfurter town council fig. a "commission to 1883 because of keeping of the Nerly' pictures" and assigned it the search for suitable areas for a museum.

Search moved itself to summers 1884, when commission to report could that in the former cure-Main-hissed balance and luggage yard, in which the office for main expensive at that time resided in the first projectile "the northeast remainder Theil of the station route"Â… for purposes of an urban museum miethweise to become usable [became] ". After a further year on 1 July 1885 the lease was signed and begun with the construction work for the change of the projectile.

With the opening of the museum on 27 June 1886 the slow use transition from the earlier Erfurter balance begins to the urban museum.
