The enterprise volume is an economic characteristic number by a mathematical vector expressed and substantial enterprise facts by means of a scale is evaluated and represents.

A goal of the characteristic number is it to attain an overview of the distribution and the quality of the individual enterprise facts in compact form and partly subjective and objective evaluation.

Individual enterprise facts like e.g. the range of the assortment, the size and flexibility of the organization, the conversion, the profit, the costs, the number of worked on markets, the presence of services and/or only products, the fact whether only trade or also production and transport are operated by the value of the components of the vector expressed.

Diagram

The diagram enterprise volumes is possible as line, as surface and as volume.

The diagram enterprise volumes as volumes in a cartesian coordinate system with three axles (x, y, z) illustrates the combination of three elementary enterprise volumes.

If the three enterprise volumes Products, into a three-dimensional cartesian coordinate system, are e.g. integrated ranges and Money then the graphic result clarifies weaknesses and strengths, advantages and disadvantages, pent-up demand or progress.

Generally the diagram of different combinations from enterprise volumes can be used to prognosis decisions or future plan projects. It can show also gaps and weaknesses depending upon enterprise volume combination. From this future measures can be derived and helped the enterprise on new markets to engage themselves or on already existing markets their possible position of power to develop.

Proceeding

1.) Determination of the enterprise facts which can be included

Here it is particularly important that elements are compared same level.

  - Assortment, categories of commodities, article, sorts - personnel, worker, employee, management - sales markets, procurement markets - etc.

2.) Development of a scale regarding comparable rival businesses

Here it is particularly important that the scale with scales other enterprise volumes can be compared.

  - 1 to 10 (whereby 1 is a bad value and 10 a outstanding value) - A to z (whereby A a bad value and z a outstanding value is)

3.) Evaluation of the determined enterprise facts into the characteristic number

Here particularly importantly that the evaluation takes place via objective yardsticks, there no constant values are to be used are this the heaviest task at all.

  - Here it is to be noted that the individual enterprise facts regarding the rival business which can be compared is objective.

4.) List of the characteristic number enterprise volume

Here it is important that a standardized sequence is observed.

  - Each enterprise facts are represented by a representative symbol as the first part of an element - as the second part of the element the evaluated enterprise facts are represented with the help of the developed scale.

Example

Enterprise volume (a3, b2, c5, d7, e8)

A = Beschaffungsmarktb = = = salesform = enterprise costs

Standardisation

In the course of the standardisation an enterprise volume vector should rarely contain maximally 3 to 5 up to 7 elements. Thus the clarity and the comparability are made possible and improved importantly.

Standardized elements of a standardsierten vector can e.g. be:

  - Money (costs, conversion, profit, railways) - key (profitability, cash-flow, ROI) - personnel (worker, employee, management) - Building (surface, costs, sales course organization, brightness, etc.) - Car (passenger car, truck, luxury car) - Communication (telephone charges, fax fees, Internet fees, - computer (server, Clients, software costs, Web space) - Buy (order costs, delivery costs, delivery time, acceptance time) - Sale (sales costs, forwarding expenses, dispatch time, consulting time) - Production (lines, production time, production costs, production personnel) - bookkeeping (reservations, costs, personnel, area) - Products (Railways, weight, size of, conversion, etc.) - ranges (agriculture, industry, trade, transport, service) - industries (computer, software, printer, hardware, monitors, etc.) - etc.

Summary

The characteristic number enterprise volume be based on enterprise characteristic numbers by means of a mathematical vector in compact way to be represented. By the simple and logical representation a fast and logical overview of certain enterprise facts is possible.

Sources

The topic enterprise volumes originates from personal (private) considerations from Pott. Public sources to this special topic were so far not found. For the topic of clarity of enterprise characteristic numbers and a compact representation these there are many sources with security.
