  2. Onlinebanking (also E-Banking, Homebanking, or Telebanking)
  3. Telefonbanking
  4. Self-service-Banking
  5. Map-supported paying

Data exchange

Transfers and debits are submitted in file type on disks or CD-ROM, in former times also on magnetic tapes to the bank. The authentication and authorization of the orders take place via a "data medium detailed statement in such a way specified" with signature of an account authorized person.

The structure of the file ("DTAUS file") is prescribed and contains beside the client and receiver data the order type (for transfer or debit) as well as sum data as a check.

The data exchange is common beside FTAM/BCS (see below) particularly with large firms and municipalities with very many orders.

Within Switzerland there is uniform and standardized Aufbau.Das for the DTA format a data exchange (DTA) format by the Swiss interbank clearing AG (a joint work of Swiss banks) is defined.

Onlinebanking

Onlinebanking finds by long-distance data transmission (e.g. Internet or direct A CHOICe with the bank) instead of.

Here two procedures are usual:

  • Browserbasiertes Internetbanking (over the Website of the bank),
  • Use of a Clientprogramms in such a way specified. With this first off-lines, thus without on-line connection, become which prepares transactions (for example a transfer voucher filled out). Afterwards an on-line connection to the transmission of the collected transactions is only needed (see E-Mail-Client).

The orders are signed with the help of an electronic signature. Here in Germany several procedures were established:

  • PIN/TAN,
  • HBCI (Home Banking computer interface) or FinTS (Financial Transaction services) with authentication by smart card or key disk,
  • FTAM (file transfer and ACCESS management) with electronic signature (European Union); particularly in the firm sector spreads; Direct A CHOICe to the bank computer over ISDN or DATEX-P.
  • BCS (Banking Communication standard, usually using electronic signatures), mainly with larger enterprises in use.
  • EBICS (extension of the Banking Communication standard for communication over Internet using electronic signatures), future multi-bank standard for the firm customer business over Internet (surface availability probably starting from 2007).

In Austria mainly the procedure MBS/IP is used.

Modern browserbasierte Internetbanking systems, are characterised among other things by portal functions, barrier liberty, sophisticated safety mechanisms (e.g. against Phishing), notification possibilities (e.g. during change of account balance via SMS or E-Mail), mobile TAN procedures, as well as freely selectable Loginnamen.
