ePortfolio is the digital form of a Portfolios, which uses the new media for the conversion of this old concept. These are arranged universities multiple as work briefcases or project documentations at schools, and also in the operational world today as digital (authority) profiles, whereby they can be arranged innovative in the context of the new media. Often personal homepage in the WWW represent such ePortfolio, approximately in the sense of a presenting or a Bewerbungsportfolios.

ePortfolios also in the framework of the teachings is used, whereby in the case of eLearning also "virtual" collections offer themselves the achievement collecting main direct as forms. They differ from "material" Portfolios usually only by the form of the representation, less by means of the contents. Usually they are presented in virtual working folders (files) over a Web server, whereby beside the form of the direct representation over HTTP minutes also forms are possible downloads (ftp). An not underestimating advantage is thereby the easy exchangeability and/or the instantane addition of the components.
