The Dresdens of transporting enterprises AG (DVB) is the urban enterprise of the city Dresden for the local suburban traffic, operates thus bus and strassenbahnlinien. The today's legal form existed since 16 August 1993 and came out from the "VEB of transporting enterprises of the city Dresden".
In the year 1838 in Dresden with a first horse bus line a forerunner of the public passenger traffic was furnished. In the following years this net was removed further and connected also closer suburbs. In the year 1872 the first strassenbahnlinie was then opened. The principle of the horse route course replaced gradually the horse bus, whose last both lines were stopped 1899.
Blister joke led the first 1872 furnished streetcar distance from the Pirnai place (the eastern entrance to the city center) to the wealthy suburb. The Continental Pferdeeisenbahn AG with seat in Berlin got the addition for this streetcar distance. Until 1873 were extended the distance to Plauen. After this first line however only bus lines were replaced. Only 1880 was built further lines. 1879 transfer the Tramways company OF Germany Limited with seat to London this line and use themselves in consequence for a further development to a streetcar net.
The first new distance led from the post office place (the western entrance to the city center) after Plauen. 1893 become with the distance of blister joke over Tolkewitz after summerhouse guest the first electrical strassenbahnlinie possible. This connected thereby only suburbs, which did not belong at that time all to Dresden. Also for up to then the distances already existing separate contracts with the independent municipalities were negotiated, which made investments apparently more simply possible.
1894 are dissolved the Tramways company and based for the plants in Dresden the Dresdens streetcar company (later called due to the vehicle lacquer finish the yellow society). 1889 were already based with the German streetcar company (the red society called) a competitor. Both course enterprises agreed 1895 in a contract to use distances and stops of the other enterprise for the own alignments. The present Treaty was dissolved to 31 December 1903, whereby a constant linear network was no longer possible.
In the year 1900 the last horse route line was adjusted. The streetcar net is since then electrified. 1904 introduced the city Dresden a standardized line numbering. The Dresdens streetcar company received thereby the odd numbers, the German streetcar company the straight. On 30 December 1905 then the city Dresden took over both societies.
Surely due to the net the city Dresden took over the enterprise with both enterprises, introduced a uniform vehicle park and provided for an holistic line concept. In the year 1909 the linear network was reformed for the first time. 1914 were again opened the first bus line. This led from the station Dresden new city to the road. At the end of the 1920er the city planned years again to denationalize the enterprise.
On 1 January 1930 the urban streetcar was converted again into a private form and the Dresdens streetcar AG was based. In the autumn 1931 the most famous investment of this new society was used for the first time. The large Hechtwagen belonged at that time to the longest streetcars of the world. Also after the war still cars were delivered of the type "large Hecht ". 1941 were integrated the LOCK joke valley course, a highway course, into the Dresdens streetcar AG.
With the air raids to 13. and 14 February 1945 the bus net failed as far as possible. Still operatingsuited vehicles were used for streetcar spare traffic. The overhead line net of the streetcars was destroyed to approximately 75%. Streetcar traffic in Dresden became to 12. May 1945 again taken up. Up to the use of stages in the strongly destroyed city center it lasted however into the summer 1945. Some distances remained due to the large destruction also durably adjusted, so for instance over the new market. On 1 April 1951 the Dresdens streetcar AG was put under state control and converted into a state-owned enterprise. In the middle of the 1950er years already receive the transporting enterprises penalty from the Hungarian supplier Ikarus. Starting from end of the 1960er years streetcars were procured and used by the Czech manufacturer Tatra. The Tatrawagen had first a red-beige lacquer finish. The transporting enterprises the lacquer finish change end over of the 1980er to the city colors black and yellow. Before the enterprise was converted on 16 August 1993 into the today's legal form under the name Dresden of transporting enterprises corporation, the VEB still introduced a new tariff system, which contained also time tickets to 1 June 1991.
