The DUEWAG AG (in completion) was one of the prominent manufacturers of rail-mounted vehicles in general in Germany. The entire operational business was sold to 1999 at Siemens traffic engineering.

History

The enterprise was created 1898 in Uerdingen as Waggonfabrik Uerdingen AG. After the assumption of the Waggonfabrik in the year 1935 one concentrated in Uerdingen on the building of railway vehicles, while in Duesseldorf vehicles for the suburban traffic were manufactured, in particular streetcars. Since 1981 the enterprise carries officially DUEWAG for the names. The Waggonfabrik valley-offered sold the DUEWAG 1989 to the Siemens company. The DUEWAG AG sold its entire operational business to 1999 to the Siemens Duewag of rail-mounted vehicles GmbH, Krefeld, 100% a daughter the Siemens AG.

Within the streetcar range the DUEWAG had for a long time a dominating the market position. Almost everything for the 1960er years in West Germany procured streetcar vehicles came from DUEWAG.
