The today's of dual system Germany GmbH (DSD) developed from in the year 1990 the based "the Green point, dual system Germany, society for waste avoidance and secondary raw material production ltd.". This was created after the introduction of the packing regulation by a group in Germany of active enterprises of the food and packing industry. First as Non profit enterprises meant, in order to be a discharge for manufacturers and Vertreiber with their fulfilment of the utilization obligations, one converted the society in the year 1997 into a corporation. At the end of of 2005 became the AG again a GmbH.

Due to the decision the indication is contained of the European Union commission "greener point "also on sales packing of other binary systems and of Selbstentsorgern.

At the beginning of the yearly 2005 dual the system Germany DSD was taken over by the German environment Investment AG (DUI), a daughter of the American investor Kohl mountain Kravis Robert & Co..
