The enterprise Dolmar GmbH is the oldest manufacturer of portable petrol engine saws. The company headquarters is in Hamburg.
It began in the year 1927 with a technical revolution on the mountain Dolmar in the forest. The firm founder Emil Lerp presents those world-wide first petrol engine saw "type A". The saw weighed 58 kg and of 2 men was served. The name that Hamburg company was selected after the place of the first test employment.
1975 acquired Fichtel & Sachs the participation of the majority; in the same year Dolmar presents those world-wide first four stroke engine saw of the world, the KMS 4 with wankel engine. 1987 took over man man Fichtel & Sachs and concomitantly Sachs Dolmar; 1991 become DOLMAR 100%-ige daughter of the Japanese electric power tool manufacturer Makita Corp.
In the year 2004 as Werbegag the Dolmette is presented, a motorcycle with 24 chain saw engines as drive.
